From Backyard Smoke to the Competition Circuit
Howzit BBQ kicked off in 2020 when three friends from Riverside, California decided that backyard bragging rights just weren’t enough—we had to see how our smoke stacked up on the comp circuit.

We’re a small team, completely unsponsored (but open to free stuff, just sayin’), pulling bold flavors from our shared love of BBQ and the island-style cooking that’s part of our family story. Hints of aloha show up in the way we cook—with balance, boldness, and respect for tradition.
Part-Time Pitmasters, Full-Time Flavor Freaks
We only compete in a few contests a year—because, let’s be honest, we’ve got jobs, families, and a healthy fear of running out of rub, lump, or kale. But when we do show up, we bring the heat (and always the Jack Daniels).
Hitting Pause, Then Reigniting the Fire
Over the past year and a half, we hit pause. Life got busy.
The trailer needed a glow-up.
And our flavor game needed a remix. So we took some time to rebuild, rework, and refuel.

Now we’re nearly ready to roll back in—meat thermometers in hand, flavors dialed in, and ready to spread BBQ Aloha.
